We had our international student orientation started at Washington Hall. Philla was the very first international students that we said hello to. Not because she was charming, but because she was sitting right beside us and she was outgoing and talktive, haha. (我叫李碧蘿)

My dorm was Jefferson Hall, and it’s located across to Campus Center. I couldn’t help but like my room, because of the nice view out of the window and the neat closet. Haha. At that time, I was so looking forward to my dorm life, and never had a clue that i would have only lived there for less than ten days.

Because of the place? the people? the memories?

Well, I just can’t help but love it a lot!

你看 這裡有哪個國家的交換生玩, 體驗這裡生活跟我們兩一樣認真

有哪個當地學生的生活有我們精采

一方面我真的很感謝我們有這個環境 (像跟我們一樣愛闖的筱智就沒有)
一方面我也覺得很幸運 我們兩個能一起努力

剩下時間不多了 我想以後 我們一定連在這最芝麻蒜皮的事也會念念不忘

After I entered college, I knew it was one of my goals to learn a second foreign language, and I was choosing between French & German; at that time, I realized that more European countries’ official languages are German, and besides, German are more difficult to learn. (Yes, I love challenges) I therefore made up my mind to start my German learning journey.

Though I did take German classes through my whole freshman year, no German left in my brain at all. It was because there were more than 60 students in my class, and the teacher focused on reading instead of listening & speaking; which is not a very good teaching method for me.

While I was a junior, I made a German friend through my volunteer work; at that time, i was thinking, perhaps i could pick up my German again. Unfortunately, due to the heavy workload from my extra-curricular activities (yeah i was in 3 different clubs, and serving as a leadership role in one of them,) I didn’t really put much time and efforts on learning it.

By the time I was applying for exchange program, I wanted to go to Germany or Austria, but too bad there was none of this kind of program in that year.

Upon the time I was going to W&M, an idea came to my mind, “why wouldn’t u apply for German House and take German classes again?” However, I thought I’d better pay more attention on Amerinca culture since I was gonna be in the states. In the end, what I had done was just reviewing number  counting with Germans friends. (eins, zwei, dri……)

In my super senior year, I thought about it again, but I was too lazy to take buses at night for German classes. (and also was too busy on job hunting)

Finally, after FIVE years, I picked up my German again. and this time, I’m sure I would keep learning! Wie geht es Ihnen?

Though we haven’t been gathering all together for ages, the unfamilier feelings never came to us. We chatted and laughed just like we used to do 9 years ago, when we were really young and egered to learn about the whole world. Well, it’s always great to hang out with good old friends, since you can totally be yourself and they would laugh when you tell a bad joke.                                                                                              
We talked about our good old memories, updated current life, and of course had some girl’s talk. Even though we were not classmates anymore since tenth grade, and we all have been to different places in the world (what i tried to say here is that even though we all have experienced different things in the past decade,) we all encountered a quite similar situation in our own lives. What a coincident!
